You are responsible for the material prior to this course…even if it wasn’t directly covered in your classes. You need to be able to demonstrate you know and understand the following:
- Rule of four: mathematics representation by Tables, Graphs, Formulas and Words.
- Know, recognize and understand the behavior and characteristics of linear, exponential, power, inverse, log, trig functions, polynomial and rational functions.
- Know the Unit Circle COLD.
- Identification of concavity, domain, range , odd, even and solutions of functions. You must be able to represent these in words, inequalities or intervals.
- Be able to apply functional manipulation/transformation techniques in graphing or writing equations.
- Be able to describe & test for the symmetry and continuity of a graph, and find limits algebraically, using graphs or numerically using tables.
- Be able to fit a function model to a set of data points using knowledge of functions or linear regression. Be able to write equations from graphs and graph equations. Know the graphing theorems such as IVT and Fundamental Theorem of Algebra.
- Know the basic algorithms: quadratic formula, polynomial long division, partial fractions, special products factoring, Binomial Theorem, summation expansion.
